We don’t wanna sit down, we wanna get down  –  Brick ( This Atlantic based group fused Funk with Jazz and released on Bang Records … from their self titled album)

The Finest  –  Truce (With former ‘Escoffery’ – Michelle in their line-up , this U.K trio were assigned to ‘Big Life Records – written by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and remixed Joey Negro for Z productions)

Trax feat. Lorraine Johnson, Witch Queen, Noel Pointer, Doug Willis

Just for the moment  –  Lorraine Johnson (Coming from a Gospel background – Lorraine tied up with producers Moses Dillard & Jesse Boyce who signed her to Prelude Records … although known for her Disco content Lorraine shows she can also belt out a Soul trak)

Bang a gong  –  Witch Queen (Producer Gino Soccio sets about putting a new slant on Disco by covering (Glam) Rock trax for the studio album … in this case it’s “T.Rex’s Let’s get it on” retitled ‘Bang a gong’ – the second verse of the chorus)

Living for the city  –  Noel Pointer (At 13 years old violinist Noel was playing with the big boys musically – signed to Blue Note Records who were releasing ‘Jazz direction’ albums rather than ‘Straight Jazz’ & gave a new interpretation to Stevie’s nugget)

Get your own  –  Doug Willis (Dave Lee aka Joey Negro decides to re-invent some Disco & Funk classics with a House/Garage beat … Chicago’s Yvonne Steven aka Taka Boom on vocals – released on Z Records)

I am your melody  –  Norman Connors feat. Spencer Harrison (I was able to see Norman Connors / Jean Carn double bill with special guests Elizabeth Hogue & Spencer Harrison in London during the mid-eighties … released on Capitol Records from the album ‘Passion’)

Anger  –  Rinder & Lewis (Having recorded under a plethora of pseudonyms for their various productions – Laurin Rinder & Michael W. Lewis decided to put their names on the front the album … inspired and named after ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ of Man or Homo Sapien)

I like girls  –  Fatback (By this time they had dropped the “Band” on certain releases – headed by Bill Curtis recorded mainly for Spring Records … Fatback released one of the first Rap/Hip hop singles ‘King Tim 111 (Personality Jock)’ sadly was a “B” sides, it did not get the sales or the notoriety)

Only you  –  Shay Jones (There are more than one recording artists named Shay Jones however this ‘Shay’ is known for her Garage/House output … self written & produced by Mike Dunn – released on Maxi Records)
