Trax feat. Milira, First Choice, The Webboes, The House Master Boyz & The Rude Boys of House

One man woman  –  Milira (Milira (Jones) came to my notice with the released of her self-titled released album on Apollo/Motown Records – featuring her interpretation of Marvin Gaye  nugget with violinist Noel Pointer … she has since released three albums including the self-release ‘Seduction’)

Love freeze  –  First Choice (Rochelle Fleming and company were still assigned to Stan Watson’s “Philly Groove Records” for the release this non-album trak … it was a ‘sleeper’ but it has since gained momentum after being available on Japanese double cd as an extended version of 5 mins  plus)

Under the wear  –  The Webboes (Written by Andre Booth and release on Sam Weiss’s “Sam Records” … Andre was also known for other “Sam” releases – including trax by ‘Vicki D’)

House Nation  –  The House Master Boyz & The Rude Boys of House (Pseudonym of Farley Keith more famously known as “Farley Jackmaster Funk” was released on Dance Mania Records of Chicago … not as famous as other Chicagoan House labels but just as potent)

Turned away  –  Lavine Hudson  (Lavine was part of the ‘New Hope of U.K. Soul and Gospel’ – which includes Mica Paris, Nu Colors & The Escoffreys … written by the lady herself from the album “Between two worlds” on Virgin Records)

God helps those who helps those who help themselves – The Gospelaires of Dayton (Throughout their career they were predominantly assigned to Peacock then Savoy Records who were known for their Gospel out-put … written by Bobby Eli and released in U.K.on Arista)

Fence walk  –  Mandrill (Named after one of the largest monkeys – this band was formed by three brothers in Brooklyn New York where the fused Funk with Latin Jazz to give them a sound not dissimilar to the U.S. West Coast band War)

Hardcore (On the one)  –  Duane & Co. (Release on Chicago’s Dance Mania Records – one of the most important House labels … when it was issued on Serious Records in the U.K., there was a slight title change  & it became known as ‘J B on the one’ because it featured James Brown sample)

Trax featuring Wilson Pickett, Philly Cream, Funkadelic, Urban Soul,

I want you  –  Wilson Pickett (Known for his power house vocals where his had several monster hits on Atlantic Records – Wilson turned up on EMI after stopping off at RCA and his own boutique label ‘Wicked Records)

Join the Army  –  Philly Cream (Inspired by the success of Village People’s “In the Navy” … Philly Cream featured some/all of ‘Ingram’, a musical family who recorded under the name ‘Ingram Kingdom for “Excello Records” which includes Barbara Ingram – backing vocalist extraordinaire and part of ‘The Sweethearts of Sigma’)

Loose Booty  –  Funkadelic (Funkadelic supremo George Clinton and his Funky entourage – who later became known as ‘Dr. Funkenstein’ released his ground-breaking double vinyl album “America eats it’s young” … released on Westbound Records)
