Trax feat. Rick James & Teena Marie, The Originals, En Vogue, Bas Noir

Fire and desire  –  Rick James & Teena Marie (Rick James had been in a variety of Rock bands he came to Motown Records – but head honcho Berry Gordy thought he needed some fine-tuning … his music was classed as “Punk-Funk or Funk n Roll” which is Funk with a touch of Rock)

Down to love town  –  The Originals (One of the lesser known Motown Records’ male groups who whilst waiting for hits became being writers and background vocalists for other artists of said label … this trak has since been re-edited by “Dimitri from Paris”)

Those dogs  –  En Vogue (This trak started out from a piece of the opera “Carmen” written by Georges Bizet sung by such luminaries as Maria Callas et-al then re-lyric-ed by producers Foster McElroy … starting with a Soulful accapela then unto a Funky backbeat with some Hip Hop finishing with a Jazzy ending – not forgetting the humour)

Shoe be doo  –  Bas Noir (Introduced to the world via an early “Nu Groove Records” 12 inch by producer Ronald Burrell – signing on the dotted line for at ‘Atlantic Records’ who released only one album  … they later metamorphosed into Native Sol))
