Today’s trax

The Jackal  –  Ronny Jordan feat. Dana Bryant (A poetess that released a quality cd that the world ignored … they did the same to Wanda Robinson in the early seventies)

When the lights went out  – The Trammps (The story to New York’s blackout on 13 of July 1977 … Dimitri from Paris featured this trak on his ‘Get down with the Philly Sound comp. cd)

Just a Groove  – Glen Adams Affair (This turned up as a ‘mash-up’ with ‘The Chase’ – Giorgio Moroder and its called ‘It’s set to groove – Full Intention)

Love Commandments  –  Gisele Jackson (Released on the amazingly named Waako Records – which was their biggest hit)

Today’s trax

Can this be real  –  Natural Four (Signed to Curtis Mayfield’s Curtom Records … they always delivered quality  – but no monster hits)

Superman   –  Herbie Mann (As great as the Celi Bee & the Buzzy Bunch original is/was Herbie’s slant gave it an extra pizazz and the Patrick Adams production didn’t go amiss)

Bra  –  Cymande (U.K. funk/soul band that has a cult following …  they have reformed after 35 plus years … a continued bootlegged 12” of over many years)

Trouble  –  Backroom Productions ( Flatline – this label which was predominately Gospel-House disappeared when it’s distribution company ‘Strictly Rhythm’ran into problems)

Today’s trax

Music speaks louder than words  –  Candi Staton (The song speaks for itself  … shows that there’s more to Candi than that ‘handbag classic’)

Give me your love  –  Sisters Love (Featuring Merry Clayton who was lead and background vocalists with The Rolling Stones amongst others)

Give up the booty  –  Jimmy Smith (The veteran of the Hammond organ whose works has been recorded for the most  of the greatest Jazz labels hits you with this Jazz-Funk epic)

Give me back my love   –  Boyz in Shock feat. Carol Leeming (Released on the influential Jacktrax imprint this is one of the U.K’s early forays into ‘House’ … and one of the best)
