Today’s trax

Two became a crowd  –  Loleatta Holloway (I was with Loleatta @ The Fridge night club in London backstage, and as she was autographing my lps of her “Aware” recordings – she showed a few other people them saying ‘ i used to be a ballad singer’  …. her uptempo trax have over-shadowed her ballads)

Common thief  –  Vicki Sue Robinson (For a short while, in between Gloria Gaynor and Donna Summer – this lady was the Disco Queen  who sadly died young …. dedicated to R.G)

Jump street  –  Raul DeSouza (A Brazilian trombonist  who worked Sonny Rollins, Flora Purim and others … this trak appeared on both of his solo lp also on a soundtrak ‘The Hitter’  …. maybe the owners of his Capitol Records masters who i believe to be Universal should release a compilation or the individual lp on cd)

Wickedy Sounds  –  Dj Sneak (Out on Magnetic Recordings came this b-side – which is true unadulterated House … a rare instrumental for me – house-wise)

Today’s trax

She’s gone  –  Tavares (This trak was not a hit for the original writers/artists ‘Hall & Oates’ but was the one to really got the ‘Tavares’ brothers on the ‘hits ladder’)

Needing you  –  Clara Lewis (This trak was included in the first remix lp ‘Disco Gold’ which was a continous-play lp that consists of various artists and varios trax that was released or licence by the New York label Scepter-Wand which was owned by Florence Greenberg  … the mixer was “Remixer Extraordaniare” Tom Moulton)

Somebody’s loving you  –  Klassique (Spelling is wrong however the description is right  – it is a classic … one of those Boogie trax that slipped out in the eighties that you did find out about until years later)

The sun will shine  –  Cast of Thousands featuring Mimi Johnson (Released by the short-lived but excellent Bassline Records)

Today’s trax

After love has lost it’s shine  –  Regina Belle (Her name Regina – in Latin means Queen … as she was the reigning Jazz/Soul chanteuse with this Sam Dees composition in the late eighties)

Why  –  Carly Simon (As featured on the movie soundtrax called “Soup for One” that released in 1982 – however as a ‘Chic’ production some trax has become classics)

The Razor’s edge  –  Defunkt (Having seen this band four or five times live – i can honestly they really do take you to the ‘razor’s edge’ as musically speaking they are sharp)

Stop playing with my mind – Barbara Tucker featuring Darryl D’Bonneau (Barbara was part of Harlequin Four in the mid-eighties  released on Strictly Rhythm)
