Are you my woman (tell me so) –  The Chi-lites (The ‘Lites of Chicago’ is  still keep shining musically even thou they are no more  … if this sounds familiar – then think ‘Crazy in love – Beyonce … written and produced by Eugene Record, directed by Willie “The Dance Master” Henderson)

Working the midnight shift – Donna Summer (Donna and her producer Giorgio Moroder re-wrote the fairy tale ‘Cinderella’ to music but instead of ‘the wicked stepmother’ making her clean the ashes out of the fireplace – she does the allnighters or ‘the midnight shift’… from the lp “Once upon a time’)

Hang it up  – Patrice Rushen (Women on average are not funksters but every so often you have to compliment them when they show you they can Funk sometimes better than men …. check out : All the way down – Esther Phillips also Funky Music – Patti Labelle)

The Light  –  Michelle Weeks (The beat just gets you, then the spoken Scriptures – now the vocals … Thank God for Gospel House and of course Michelle, Jamie Lewis & Purple Music … when i hear this i go into ‘overdrive’ – i’m on the dance floor, behind the decks – anywhere that i can dance)

A few more kisses to go  –  Isaac Hayes (Some years ago there was an advert for a movie which
said ‘you make love like running for a bus’ and the reply was ‘you make love like playing chess’ – however Isaac tells you in an elegant way ‘just take your time’)

Midnight madness  –  Don Ray (Although Don only made one lp – he was an arranger for a variety of French artists (under the name Raymond Donnez) which also includes the seminal disco classic ‘Don’t let me be misunderstood – Santa Esmeralda … also for a variety of Cerrone productions)

(We are to) Geek you up  –  Michael Henderson (After dipping his feet in vocal duties on record – Michael lets us know that his first and foremost he is a ‘Bass Guitarist’ and having worked with Miles Davis – i personally would describe him as a “Virtuoso”)

The Caribou  –  Teddy Douglas presents Francesco the Violin (Cat. no. : BBR 047 … The talents of the Basement Boys shows that the violin – which had been sent to the desert after Disco has now been rescued and giving a leading role again in Dance Music)

Will you still love me tomorrow  –  Ollie Woodson (Reading the booklet of this cd – my heart sunk because of the setbacks this singer encountered during his career especially knowing that there are less talented who became more successful … trak made famous by The Shirelles … written by Carole King & Gerry Goffin)

Feel like i’ve been living (on the dark side of the moon)  –  The Trammps (this trak was gravely overlooked due to the popularity of the lp title trak  … with Jimmy Ellis on lead vocals, Norman Harris on guitar, Earl Young on drums, Tom Moulton at the mixing desk – all the gang was there and quality has not been dimished because it was/is an album trak)

Dog Talk  –  K-9 Corp featuring Pretty C (George Clinton  – The Legendary  Funk Master had been plagiarised and sampled by a plethora  of Hip-hop  artists – so he decided to play them at their own game by writing & producing this canine Funk/Rap workout)

A Wonderful place  –  Blaze presents Underground Dance Artists United for Life featuring Ultra Nate (There were multiple mixes when this was released as a single … Blaze (Productions) and Ultra are a match made in heaven … originally released on King Street Records)
