Today’s trax

Hollywood  –  Rick James (After ripping up the dance floor with ‘You & I’ – i was reminded of the b-side of the 12″ …. most of us focussed on Rick’s Funk rather than his Soul)

Everybody loves a good thing  –  Patrick Adams presents Phreek (Producer Patrick gave us Disco ! no more needs to be said except : Leroy Burgess & Venus Dodson on lead vocals)

Miss Funky Fox  –  Exit 9 (Released on Brunswick, when the world was filled with Funk bands …. as time went by and Funk became Boogie – a few of us started looking for that ‘rare nugget’ – which led to Soul Brother re-releasing their album)

Hittrax  –  House Gang (One of the earliest records where ‘Let no man put asunder – First Choice’s a cappella was put to use … produced by Mike “Hitman” Wilson – released on Underground Records)

Share a little love in your heart  –  Love Unlimited (This trio consisted Linda James, Diane Taylor and Glodean White … Glodean’s husband was Barry (White) who wrote & produced most of their works)

Jet setting  –  Van McCoy (With his ‘Soul City Symphony’ – Van went from mainly a back room writer/arranger to Disco King via a series of albums which headed you straight to the dance floor)

Blam  –  Brothers Johnson (Blood brothers George & Louis made seem Funk so easy – with Quincy Jones in the producer’s chair – it was)

Human  –  Reese Project (Techno maestro Kevin Saunderson side ‘project’ featured a variety of vocalists in this case Rachel Kapp)
