Today’s trax

A song can reach your heart  –  New York Community Choir (NYCC as they became known were one of the first Gospel choirs to sign to a secular record label as an artists – also the more progressive Soul/Disco arrangements)

Je suis music  –  Cerrone (Marc – a French national recorded at the upgraded new 48 tracks @ Trident Studios in London … this trak was from his fourth album and was a limited release compared most of this previous singles)

Girl, i’m watching you  –  Platinum Hook (Originally assigned to The Commodores production company … this trak is from their third lp ‘Watching you’  on RCA Records)

Freedom  –  Kim Crawford (One of the lesser known trax on the revolutionary Bottom Line Records out of Brooklyn New York … co-written by Kim and label head and all-rounder ‘Ed the Red’ Goltson)

Today’s trax

Getting back into love  –  Gerald Alston (At one time in the eighties and nineties, there were so many male vocalists of calibre – you really did not whose record/cd to buy – now there seems to be all water and no substance … and when there is – they are unappreciated by the masses)

Save me  –  Silver Convention (First single from German studio trio, even though there were actually four voices put together by Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay … their name varied from Silver Bird to Silver Bird Convention finally settling on S.C. – original lp recent cd release)

Take your time do it right  –  S.O.S Band  (Their breakout single from the first album – new band with this new infectious sound … there wasn’t even a name for it then before the words’Electro-Funk’ was bandied around but most of us now call it ‘Boogie’)

Can’t get enough of your love  –  Taylor Dayne (With then the then hot duo ‘Clivilles & Cole’ in the producers chair – they decided to tackle Barry White’s signature tune without turning it into faeces)

Today’s trax

Imitation of love  –  Millie Jackson (After her last lp E.S.P. (Extra Sexual Persuasion), Millie changed record labels from Spring to Jive & also went for a more softer but subtle side of Soul)

Voodoo  –  Ritchie Family (‘I will save you a potion, to keep your devotion …’ are some of the lyrics … writer/producer Jacques Morali showed his Disco prowess with this under-appreciated lp trak – from the album ‘African Queens’)

Music turns me on  –  Sparque (Larry Joseph written, Tee Scott mixed and West End Records released … this is the correct ingredients for a Boogie classic – instrumental mix)

Life ain’t what it seems  –  Sterling Ensemble featuring Sara Devine (Named after Albert “Sterling” Menendez – the keyboard wizard and released on Vega Records, a division of M.A.W. Records)
