Today’s trax

That’s love  –  Heaven and Earth (Title trak of the last of four albums – before they went the separate ways though that’s not technically true as some members of the group became Cashmere who released albums on Philly World)

Kiss my love  goodbye  –  Bettye Swann (Released as a ‘b’ side, written by Phil Hurtt & Anthony Bell and recorded at Sigma Sound, Philadelphia – this trak was featured on WEA’s  Creme de la Creme’ compilation & Tom Moulton’s Philly Re-Grooved 3 … sampled by Galantis (know for that interesting video))

French way  –  Crown Heights Affair (This eight piece self-contained powerhouse Funk band gives you this saucy Funk mini-masterpiece … though i’m certain it’s the same in other parts of the world)

Love is gonna save the day  –  Georgie Porgie (This Georgie (Andros) did not ‘kiss the girls and made them cry’ – instead made some trax and made them dance … released on Chicago’s Vinyl Soul Records)

Today’s trax

Shacking up  –  Barbara Mason (Barbara was ‘Rappin’ before the genre existed … signed to Arctic Records in her teens with a hit record – she was known for her own compositions and her her individual vocalising)

Come back  –  Carol Williams & The Salsoul Orchestra (Carol was the first woman to be assigned to Salsoul – Vince Montana producing … one of her trax was was sampled for ‘Groovejet (If this ain’t love) – Spiller)

Headlines  –  Midnight Star (Solar recording artists Midnight Star Electro-Funk trak including snippets of Rap/Hip Hop whilst impolating sounds associated with cartoon Inspector Gadget)

All because of you  –  Tyronne Summers (Music USA was was one of the labels releasing the New Jersey Garage Sound … produced by Smack Productions known for trax by Adeva, Colonel Abrams amongst others)

Today’s trax

Hangin’ downtown  –  Cameo (Though wearing outlandish costume, Larry Blackmon and his pared down band did not pare down the quality of their Soul trax)

Planets of life  –  The Whispers ( The Whispers revisited a trak they recorded whilst on the Soul Clock label turning it into a Magnum Opus of seven minutes plus … this trak was also been re-edited by ‘6th Bourough Project’ giving it new exposure)

Kilowatt  –  The Kay-Gees (Name inspired by James Brown’s backing band – ‘The JB’s … title trak of their album, released on Delite Records offshoot Gang Records)

Without you  –  Spero featuring Diane Scott (Another classic from Chicago’s Afterhours label … not a frantic as some House trax but more elegant with a more Soulful vocal)
