Everybody’s Fool  –  Brenda & The Tabulations (Put together by music entrepreneur Gilda Woods who had the groups trax released on a few independent Philadelphian labels mostly trax written and produced by Van McCoy eventually signing with Chocolate City – part of Neil Bogart’s Casablanca Records)

Time  –  Morning, Noon & Night (Named after an album title by the Nite-liters – released by Roadshow Records and distributed by United Artists Records … produced by Michael Stokes known for his work with “Enchantment” & “Magic Lady”)

Testify  –  Byron Stingily (Byron came to prominence as the featured vocalist on Ragtyme – he later went on to form Ten City along with Herb Lawson & Byron Burke … signing to Michael Weiss’s Nervous Records of New York )

 

 

Trax feat. Brothers Johnson, Tasha Thomas, Ohio Players 6th Borough Project

Treasure  –  Brothers Johnson (Written by Rod Temperton who penned monster hits for Michael Jackson & was part of Heatwave, a Soul/Funk band assigned to the U.K.’s GTO Records … Brothers Johnson were real life by brothers were got their break by being part of Quincy Jones’s army of musicians – he also produced their albums)

Hot buttered boogie  –    Tasha Thomas (Tasha was on a roll  – having become a top session vocalist in New York, being a cast member of the hot new Broadway show “The Wiz” and a scorching new solo album … sadly to say she developed cancer and died shortly afterwards)

Sweet Sticky Thing  –  Ohio Players (The Players were an underground Soul/Funk band who recorded albums on Capitol & Westbound but it was not until they tied up with Mercury Records that they hit gold … they had gold albums and singles so frequently that they called their greatest hits just that : Gold)

Read my mind  –  6th Borough Project feat. paul Joseph (6th Borough Project are Craig Smith and Graham Clark – name was inspired by New York’s five boroughs … 6.B.P. started off as re-editers and remixers on such record labels as ‘L.E.S.S. Productions’, ‘Instruments of Rapture’ & ‘Delusions of Grandeur)

Can’t shake your love  –  Syreeta (Originally recorded as “Rita Wright” before returning to her proper name –  became known as a co-writer of “It’s a shame” & Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, sealed & delivered” as well as Stevie’s wife … Syreeta spent nearly all her recording career with Motown Records)

Pete’s Crusade  –  Light of the World (Named after a “Kool & The Gang” album of the same name (minus the ‘s’)… these London boys help create the genre that became known as ‘Jazz Funk’ … signed to the newly formed Ensign Records by owner Chris Hills)

Get your thing together  –  Soulmagic & Ebony Soul feat. Ann Nesby (Soulmagic is primarily Morten Trost known for his trax on Morehouse Records amongst others – Ebony Soul is Victor Simonelli of Blind Truth, NY Finest, Bassline Records and a plethora of pseudonyms … Ann is the former lead vocalist of “Sound of Blackness” the African American Gospel ensemble)
