Discomania  –  The Lovers (Inbetween creating The Ritchie Family & Village People – writer, arranger, producer Jacques Morali dropped this medley of then current hits … the instrumental b-side is also a classic)

Journey to Pheobus  –  Salsoul Orchestra (Vincent Montana Jnr was at the helm of Sigma Sound session musicians based in Philadelphia  … from the album ‘Magic Journey’  – this overlooked track has recently gathered momentum)

Music is the answer (Dancin’ & Prancin’)  –  Celeda (Real name Victoria Sharpe was inspired by such talent as Patti Labelle & Sylvester … features the cream of producers includes E-Smoove, Cevin Fisher, Peter Rauhofer and Danny Tenaglia)

Dream World  –  Jerry Butler (A titan of Soul Music who wrote for Otis Redding and – was one of the original member of The Impressions and personal friend , confidant and co-writer of Curtis Mayfield … was the original singer of ‘Only the strong survive’ & ‘Make it easy on yourself’)

A little love  –  Faith, Hope & Charity (F, H & C recorded for Sussex Records and when it folded – they signed with RCA now known as BMG … the later line-up consisted of Brenda Hillard, Albert Bailey and Diane Destry and was written and produced primarily by Van McCoy and Charles Kipps)

Born to boogie  –  T-Connection (A six piece from The Bahamas was assigned to Florida’s TK Records – Dash subsidary before moving to Capitol Records … from their ‘Totally Connected’ album released on Dash)

Lift every voice and sing  –  Jasper Street Company (Jasper Street are a Gospel/House coterie under the guidance of The Basement Boys – released on Basement Boys Records and/or their offshoot label … originally recorded by Mass Order which was also produced by The B.B.)

Harlem  –  Bill Withers (Originally released on Clarence Avant’s Sussex Records – however when Clarence had problems the master tapes ended up with Columbia Records now known as Sony … from the album ‘Just as i am’ which also featured “Ain’t no sunshine”)

Master of love  –  Freda Payne (The No. 1 singer in term of sales for writers Holland – Dozier – Holland  after hot-footing from Motown Records to set up Invictus Records then wife of Gregory Abbott who also contributed to as a songwriter to her album ‘Stares & Whispers … now available on cd)

Makossa Rock  –  Deadline (After meeting Celluloid head honcho Jean Karakos – producer/arranger and all arounder Bill Laswell released a variety of projects on Celluloid … having had a major hit with Herbie Hancock gave him kudos)

Lift up your hands in the Santuary  –  DJ Oji featuring Una (Una Barry  first came to my on my radar via her release on Look at you Records – since she has turned up on a variety on trax including Oji’s partner DJ Pope)
