Funk-o-nots – Ohio Players (Taking their name from the State that they came from – this self-contained band was assigned to such labels as Capitol & Westbound Records before becoming more successful at Mercury … Some members later formed a band named ‘Shadow’ who went with Elektra Records – who were building the “Black Music” roster)

Revolution poem – Blaze (New Jersey duo : Josh Milan & Kevin Hedges – writers, producers remixers tentacles spread to a plethora of independent labels in and around New York & New Jersey … from the album : Natural Blaze – Blaze Production presents James Toney Jnr. Project)

The Oscar  –  Blue Magic (Headed by Ted ‘Wizard’ Mills – this quintet were assigned to Atco Records via WMOT production company … written & produced by  Norman Harris and Ron Tyson – from the album “Welcome Back” – a Capitol Records release)

Why  –  Chic  (From the original sound track “Soup for One” which was primary written and produced by Messrs Edwards & Rogers – released as a ‘b side’ on Mirage Records)

Do your thing –  Ohio Players (This self-contained group were originally from Dayton , Ohio – hence their name … main releases were on Westbound & Mercury  however this is on Neil Bogart’s Boardwalk Records)

Mo’ Butter  –  Jamie Lewis feat. Kim Cooper (Kim first came to prominence via productions of Peter Rauhofer … Dj Jamie Lewis heads Switzerland based ‘Purple Music’ record label)

Dreamin’  –  Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five (Assigned to the iconic Rap label “Sugar Hill Records” where they released the album ‘The Message’ before splitting into two entities … ‘Flash’ was known for his ‘Scratching’ on records that inspired some Djs to become ‘Scratch Djs’)

Everybody up  –  Ohio Players (Named after the U.S. State from where – Funk Meisters ‘Ohio Players’ changed lanes after leaving Mercury Records for Arista where they dropped a slice of Disco)

North London Boy  – Incognito ( An off-shot of London Jazz-Funk combo “Light of the World” and was signed to the same label – “Ensign Records” … their first album “Jazz Funk” however this trak was not included)

So grateful  –  Byron Stingily (After 4 albums with his group “Ten City” – Chicagoan ‘House’ superstar Byron spread his musical wings by going solo … released by New Jersey’s ‘Jet Set Records’ and produced by “Smack Productions”)
