This time  –  T.C. Carson (When Expansion Records released this solo cd, lots of people said ‘who on earth is he’-  some bought it because they believed in Expansion – others missed out on great music)

Shaft II  –  (Isaac re-created his masterpiece for a new label  … speeded-up arrangement for the Disco floor with  more rhythm and bass and double the length of the original …to some of the younger set he was known for : Chocolate Salty Balls’  to the older ones : Black Moses)

Also sprach Zarathustra  –  Deodata (Take a classical piece  – throw in a crack band of studio professionals to record at Rudy Van Geyer’s studio then have Eumir  Deodata to arrange it … and you have an 8 minutes plus of Classical Jazz-Fusion)

Mas Groove  –  Cevin Fisher (With a slight tweak of his name  Kevin brings us – as he calls it ‘a sultry samba style percussive magic …. i describe it as hypnotic, rhythmic and tribal chant)

The Runner  –  The Three Degrees (After leaving Philadelphia International via a short stop at Columbia Records they hit the ground running at Ariola with this Sheila Ferguson penned – Giorgio Moroder produced wonderment)

If you got it, you’ll get it – The Headhunters (Herbie Hancock’s backing band steps out by themselves wit no participation by the man himself except for his production skills)

Flight – Studio Apartment featuring Monique Bingham (Studio Apartment is Masanori Morita and Noboru Abe – a Japanese duo who also own Apt and Apt International Records)

Love theme from Spartacus  –  Terry Callier (The re-discovery of ‘The Folk Man of Chicago’ …. one of his first recordings in thirteen years)

Baby you are nothing without me  –  Karen Young (The orchestration say’s Jazz – inspired by one those top black orchestras like Count Basie or Duke Ellington …  you can tell the writer/producer Andy Khan wasn’t a ‘just come’ but someone who crafted his art)

Super bad  –  Idris Muhammad (From the lp Black Rhythm Revolution and he obviously revolutionised the rhythms … a drummer who dared to cover a ‘Brother James’ trak which was then rare  ….  the original lp has recently been re-pressed due to it’s high quality content)

Life ain’t what it seems  –  Sterling Ensemble featuring Sara Devine (Named after Albert ‘Sterling’ Menendez, who has collaborated with the who’s who of dance music in the New York and surrounding districts – not to mention a regular contributor to Louie Vega’s masterworks)
