Today’s trax

Holding you, Loving you  – Vanessa Simon featuring Noel McKoy (One of the U.K’s shiny light – she so truly deserved success because quality she delivers … however Soul music’s no longer appreciated as much as it should be … released on Congo Records from Definitive Source cd/lp)

24 Hours a day  – Barbara Pennington (Produced by Ian Levine at the early start of  his career in production and a few years before that High Energy sound he became known for)

Xtra Special  – Atmosfear (Disharmony within this band … the story goes that there was a problem in their camp and one of them hot-footed to New York – the result was a cover version by top session vocalist Dolette McDonald produced by the brilliant but elusive Began Cekic)

He is – Copyright featuring Song Williamson (Gavin ‘Face’ Mills & Sam Holt are the writers and studio ‘knob twiddlers’ … they are delivering quality that even U.S. Garage/House Djs’ happy with)

Today’s trax

Escaping  –  Asia Blue (The word and music called Soul became a very bad thing for programmers who went for fads rather than quality  …  you can hear how well their voices mesh together as one)

I’m a big freak (R.U.1.2)  –  Phreek ( Patrick Adams presents Phreek is the proper title  …. now known as The Master  – this lp trak shows the reason why there are so many Patrick Adams Productions (P.A.P)   … it’s now on cd also)

Glad to be here  –   Bernard Edwards (In the last few  years Nile Rodgers has been touring relentlessly and introducing the “young ‘uns” to ‘Chic’ – lets not forget his equally talented now deceased partner  … this is the title trak from his only lp which is also available on cd)

Tear it up  –  Kings of Tomorrow featuring Julie McKnight (Julie didn’t just ‘tear it up’ – she mashed up the dance floor with this    …. has an essence of ‘Should have been you  – Gwen Guthrie’)

Today’s trax

Same old moon  –  Hamish Stuart (Formally of TheAverage White Band this man has written and worked with the cream including Atlantic Starr, Patti Austin George Benson,Aretha Franklin et al … also including tributes to Marvin Gaye & Quincy Jones …. i can see this becoming a Soul classic in time  – all it needs is the listening public to here it)

Tonight’s the night (Good time) – Kleeer (After several name changes, this band became the ‘live’ band of The “Universal Robot Band” – a studio outfit under the guidance of Patrick Adams & Greg Carmichael before signing to Atlantic Records)

Sister Janie  –  Funk Inc. (These were the records nobody wanted to buy – but when i had a listen they were very surprised  … very raw Street Funk or as one of their lp’s was named ‘Super Funk’)

It could’ve been you – Deborah Cox (Co-written by the lady herself – this David Morales remix is one of her lesser known club classics – maybe as it didn’t get an official release but turned up on her compilations, her remix cd and her Deluxe cd)
