Today’s trax

King Heroin  –  James Brown (There was a New York avant-garde band called James Chance & The Contortions also known as James White & The Blacks  … i actually heard their version before the James Brown original … a Polydor release from album ‘There it is’)

Right there in the socket  –  Shalamar (They started out as a studio outfit from the mind of Simon Soussan who pitched the idea to Soul Train entrepreneur Don Cornelius & assistant Dick Griffey … Dick took over Soul Train Records and renamed it Solar Records subtitled ‘Sound Of Los Angeles Records’ who released this trak)

Take your praise  –  Camille Yarbrough (Known for the original work which was sampled by Fatboy Slim also known as Norman Cook …there is so much more to this talented lady than one trak – she is also a writer, poet, activist and more – camilleyarbrough.com for more information)

I got my education  –  Uncanny Alliance (What seemed to start out as a sent up of : ‘Homeless – Crystal Waters’  ended up being a rather interesting trak  … writing by Orville Brinsley Evans & David Cole of C & C Music Factory/Clivilles & Cole)
