Trax featured Leela James, Freddie James, James Brown, Martha Wash

My joy  –  Leela James (Named “The Soul Songstress” on a promotional single – Leela’s first album harked back to ‘The Soul Years’ of the Seventies … when the voice & song was paramount – from the album ‘A change is gonna come’ on Warner Brothers Records)

Get up and boogie  –  Freddie James (14 year old son of Geraldine Hunt was produced by Canadian Tony Green for The Tony Green Organisation … from a 4 trak album titled ‘Get up and boogie’)

Make it Funky  –  James Brown (Known as “Minister of New Heavy, Heavy Funk”, “God Father of Soul” are amongst his many titles …. Parts 1 – 4 was not available on initial vinyl in it’s entirety it was re-released on cd)

Come  –  Martha Wash (Background vocalists for “Disco Icon – Sylvester”, co-lead vocalist of duo ‘Two Tons o’ Fun’ later re-named “The Weather  Girls” by writer/producer Paul Jabara … remixed by Grammy Award winner Hex Hector)

2 Thoughts.

  1. Hey big man, it’s Steve, train traveller from leicester to rugeley transvestite. loved Freddie James, get down and boogie, when it came out – got it on 12 inch. Never knew he was the son of Geraldine Hunt, i love her. loved her can’t fake the feeling album, but i here you say ‘no way’, yes ‘no way’ a great track from the album.
I disappeared abruptly. Life took me on another journey, but i am coming back for a leicester-rugeley transvestite memorial trip. Hopefully see you again. my brief new life journey has took me out of the game for a bit, otherwise would have made it to the Island Bar before now. So hoping to make the bar as well sooner or later.
Keep on dancing, get down, boogie oogie oogie.
    Shake it up
    Stevie mac

ps: quiz question for you and the punters. From the last two lines of the text above, not including my name how many artists can you link to songs in the text. I am going for 4. 3 from the top line, 1 from the bottom (hang on is this the numbers game on countdown)
Keep up the good work – keep spreading the vibe

pss: Final thought – old school funksters never die, they come back with a different vibe 🙂

Good times, these are the good times, leave your cares behind
Our new state of mind, these are the good times

    • Long time – no hear … I have retired (too much drama with Cross Country), it was a choice of ‘Jumping or Being Pushed’ –
so i took the money … not at Island Bar anymore so now i’m a jobbing Dj (will be at The Church Inn on Sat. 1st Dec.) !
